Dual 4-Ohm Heavy Duty Voice Coils
Clarion's systems use dual voice coils to deliver perfect playback of large-amplitude bass. These coils also provide high sensitivity and excellent performance for digital audio and other large input sounds. Dual voice coils also give you flexible wiring options, enabling you to wire in parallel or series, or power with a non-bridgeable amp.

These light and rigid speaker cones create low-distortion sound.
Nitrile Butadiene Rubber High Excursion Surround
The rolled edge of the diaphragm provides superior response, while its butyl material is highly durable and moisture resistant. The result is a special rubber surround that cuts distortion and further improves linearity.
Strontium Ferrite Magnets
A high-conductivity magnet is used in Clarion's speaker systems to obtain an airgap magnetic flux density significantly higher than that obtained from ferrite magnets. Combining this magnet with the heat-resistant voice coil results in speakers that are able to deliver powerful playback at large inputs with improved damping while maintaining the integrity of the digital source.
Hyper Extended Rear-Vented Pole Piece
To prevent pressure from building up inside the center cap and causing increased amplitude distortion, a vent is provided on the rear of the pole piece, resulting in completely smooth cone movement, which contributes to the open, airy sound of the speakers.
S.E.T. (Spider Exhaust Technology) Cooling
Heat is the number one enemy of speakers. All of Clarion's Ultra and Platinum woofer drivers feature S.E.T. (Spider Exhaust Technology) Cooling, to allow hot air to escape the speaker's internal motor assembly via computer designed porting.

I have it wired down to 2 OHMs on a Punch P3001 amp and it hits aqequately in my Avalanche. I built a custom box for it with about .49cuft of airspace and 3.5" mounting depth (more than needed). Sub is not broken in yet so I have play it at moderate volume levels but it does overpowers my stock door speak with the eq flattened. I was deciding between this sub and the Pioneer shallow mount 10" and decided to give this a shot because I have always been a fan of Clarion quality and it was less than half the price of the Pioneer with the same RMS rating. I am glad I chose this one. I will purchase a second in the near future (as soon as I build the second box). The shallow mount fits perfect in the custom box I built for behind the seat of my 2006 Silverado 2500HD. Overall very happy with these subs...
